Snowflakes and Ice Tablescape

Set an Elegant Winter Snowflakes and Ice Tablescape

for Christmas

Let’s re-create this elegant, magical Snowflakes and Ice Tablescape to completely WOW our guest over the winter holidays. Dining Delight has done it again with the creation of another gorgeous winter snowflake tablescape called Snowflakes & Ice. The look is all about glimmer and sparkle using crystal, glass and silver with a hint of aqua and teal.

The first layer of this gorgeous sparkling tablescape is a mirror laid down the center of the table. The tablescape was then built in layers upon the mirror. If you don’t have a long mirror home improvement stores sell mirror tiles or you can pick up an inexpensive mirror at a discount store and remove the ugly frame.

To achieve the icy block center piece, she used two glass blocks which she picked up from the hardware store (the kind of glass block walls are made with). She stacked these blocks, one laid down on its side and the other standing on top. A large glitter snowflake was glued to each side of the standing glass block and one to the top side of the glass block lying down.  She then topped the creation with faux ice rocks.

She also used the glass blocks on each side of the center piece to hold the glass Christmas trees. However, if you cannot get your hands on any glass block another idea for elevating the crystal Christmas trees is to use cut crystal or cut glass bowls inverted. They will still look exquisite, especially reflected in the mirror on the table.

Next she incorporated aqua ornaments and dessert dishes into the mix for added color. Keep this in mind when looking for the right elegant pieces for your snowflakes tablescape. Look for ornaments and dishes in complementary icy blue colors to add layers of dimension and color to the table.

Shiny silver charger plates are the perfect first layer of the place settings. I would use a White Baroque Dinnerware Set for additional layers and sterling silver flatware would be the ideal choice for an elegant table setting.

Below I am featuring pieces for you to achieve the same magical snowflake and ice tablescape. I have also put together dinnerware settings similar to the ones she used in her tablescape so that you can recreate the look with ease.

Glass Block with Clear Christmas Lights

Glass Block with Clear Christmas Lights

Dining Delight used two glass blocks stacking one on top of the other for height, glued snowflakes to each side and added acrylic ice cubes to the top to give her center piece their icy appeal. Another glass block was used on each side of the center piece to hold an acrylic Christmas tree and an aqua ornament, so you will need a total of 4 to complete this project

I am really liking this ice block that I found on Amazon. It comes with lights already inside the blocks, thus no drilling and installing on your part, which is a big plus in my book.  It will save  a lot of time from doing it yourself and the cost of shipping is minimal. Dining Delight did not use blocks with lights, but I think the addition of the lights is much better to the sparkle of the table

I looked at a lot of different glass blocks online and they seemed very reasonable in price until I tried to order and found the shipping was twice the amount of the block!! I don’t think so!  I would check Lowe’s and Home Depot in your area and compare prices prior to ordering to see what the better deal will be in your locale. For me this one is the better deal since it comes with lights already installed. If you prefer one without lights click here Glass Block.

This is a pack of 6 large 8 inch white snowflake ornaments which will give you just enough to decorate the glass blocks on the Snowflake and Ice Tablescape.  Glue one to each side of the glass block to re-create the center piece in the photo and one to the top of each glass block used under the acrylic Christmas trees.  That will leave 2 extra to use elsewhere.

Place these acrylic ice rocks on top of the glass block. They look just like rocks of ice giving the table more of an icy, wintry feel.
I would get a couple of bags and scatter the extra aournd the tablescape for an extra icy feel.

A glass Christmas tree is placed on top of each glass block which we placed on each side of the center piece. A teal ornament is then placed on each glass block for a bit of icy blue effect.

I found a pack of Aqua Blue Christmas Ball Ornaments similar to what Dining Delight used on her tablescape, but I also found Hanging Crystal Teal Prisms which I like much better as they add the color needed, but they look like drops of blue ice on the table. You choose the ones you like better and let me know in the comments which ones you like the best.

Don’t you think these are the perfect pieces to use in our snowflake and icy tablescape. They add the necessary color but add the feeling of ice while reflecting the lights beautifully!

I love these prisms. They also come in blue and clear. I already have cobalt blue glass dishes that I can layer with either my Lenox Solitaire China or my white baroque china, so I am thinking about going with the blue instead of the teal.

An icy reindeer is placed next to each glass block holding the glass Christmas trees. This gorgeous reindeer pair is made out of acrylic, but you would never know by looking at them. They look like carved crystal, at a quarter of the cost. You will be pleasantly surprised when you see how well these gentle beast reflect the lights on the table.  I am so amazed what is done with acrylic these days.

I adore Waterford Crystal and this exquisite Sea Jewel Cut Crystal Pattern has so many jewel like facets it will reflect the candle and table light beautifully and it is much more affordable than other Waterford patterns. I know you will love them the minute you take them out of the box. This photo does not do them justice! Decorate them using two 3-inch snowflakes on each side of the candlesticks.  I would adhere them with rubber cement (will peel right off without any harm to the crystal).

I have never used candle rings before but they look like a fun way to add even more sparkle to our table and they can be used with so many different tablescapes for all occasions. If using this candle rings I would try to stick the snowflakes to the rings instead of the candle sticks. You will have to fiddle with it to see what works out best on the crystal candle sticks you decide to use.

Snow Flakes & Ice Place Settings

Dining Delight is using her tried and true silver beaded rim charger that she used with the other winter snowflake tablescape I featured here.

For this Snowflake and Ice theme she has done a very simple layer of a white place mat, the silver charger, a white dinner plate,  and a glass salad plate. The setting is topped off with a teal dish for the place card holder.

The dish is filled with faux snow, a glittery snowflake ornament and the guest name. The color of the dish really helps to pull it all together.  I like the idea of using the snowflake ornament for the guest to take home.

White Shabby Chic Christmas Tablescape

White Victorian Vintage Shabby Chic
Christmas Tablescape

This is a stunning vintage winter look for a fabulous white shabby chic Christmas tablescape! I love the white Christmas theme and it is an easy one to recreate.

Just think white, ivory, silver and lace and you can’t go wrong when searching for pieces to recreate this Wintry white shabby chic theme tablescape.

Use a white tablecloth with an ivory lace tablecloth layered on top to capture the old world Victorian feel.

Look for white feather table top Christmas trees, white glitter trees, white nutcrackers, white Santa’s and white reindeer to create your white on white Christmas tablescape in the center of the Christmas dining table.

Altered natural elements were very popular in Victorian times and are still popular today. Paint pine cones white and add them to the white florals in the tablescape.

White Feather Table Top Christmas Tree

White Feather Tree

This is a gorgeous handcrafted white feather Christmas tree that is perfect for the starting piece focal point of a shabby chic tablescape centerpiece. It is a 3-foot tall tree so I would only use it on a large dining table or as a buffet table focal point. It would overwhelm a smaller table.

You may be able to find shorter trees at your local craft stores such as Hobby Lobby, Michael’s or JoAnn’s to use on smaller shabby chic tablescapes. Another good place to look for white vintage-style feather trees is at garage sales during the summer and thrift shops or craft fairs during the fall.

Add two additional shorter trees of varied heights for the decorator’s “rule of 3” in a grouping or vignette. Keep in mind when it comes to decorating, placement of objects using odd numbers is much more appealing to the eye than even-numbered pairings.

The other two trees could also be feather trees, but they don’t have to be. They could be a combination of three entirely different contrasting trees; as long as they are white or a varying shade of white. For example, it could be three feather trees or 1 feather, 1 lace and one bottle brush tree.

These white bottle brush Christmas trees make wonderful table decorations that are keeping with the white shabby chic theme. They have been sprayed with glitter to add sparkle and turn them into fabulous table decorations. These bottle brush sisal trees are very affordable and can be placed on the table in several places. I think the star tree toppers are such a nice touch!

I would spray the trees with an adhesive glitter for additional sparkle and tie a bow of either an icy blue satin ribbon or a sparkly silver ribbon on the stem of each tree under the star with the ribbon draping part way down the tree.

This next trio of white Christmas trees will also make a beautiful display for any white Christmas tablescape. They are covered with white glitter and have a whimsical appeal with an antique-style flamboyance. The glitter will catch the candlelight like the sun catching the ice crystals in the snow.

I would place them in the center of the table and then get the embossed white deer which I featured on another post to place around the trees for a lovely winter white tablescape.

Bring together the old and the new using antique accents with contemporary flair. Add large glittered ball ornaments to the table as a contrast in visual shapes and textiles.

I would place some sparkly Christmas ball ornaments (see below) around the pieces in a combination of both matte and shiny; with a mix of white, cream, silver and icy blue; then add a sparkling pearl or white snowflake garland.

This shabby chic candelabra holds taper candles and is draped with clear faux crystal beads and faux teardrop crystals. It will look beautiful on a shabby chic Christmas tablescape. The candles are not included.

In this photo, she has chosen to use white taper candles and white church style pillar candles in white shabby chic candlestick holders. Achieve this shabby chic look by draping strands of pearls and iridescent beads on the candlestick holders and hang crystal chandelier pieces on the pearl ropes. I would also look for winter white decorative candle wreaths to wrap around the candles on the table.

This next candle holder is a Victorian-style shabby chic hurricane candle lantern. It is stunning with a beautiful lacy metal design wrapped around the candle base. Sparkling crystal prisms hang from the lacey metal base. The crystals are plastic but you’d never know from the way they reflect the candle light on the table. This candle will add a nostalgic romantic glow and ambiance to the shabby chic tablescape when the inside candle is lit.

Candlelight is an important factor when creating a magical dinner table. I think it is important to add as many candles to the table as possible to create a warm glow with a magical ambiance. I like to have at least one tea light placed next to each place setting with more tealights placed randomly throughout the tablescape.

This lotus shaped stoneware tealight candle holder is a perfect addition to our shabby chic tablescape. It is a creamy white with a shabby distressed appeal.

This white tablecloth with a frayed ruffle will be a wonderful addition to any shabby chic decor. I might also add a square lace overlay placed diagonally across the center of the table prior to decorating. The extra layer of lace will give the table an over the top shabby chic style. Once decorated this tablecloth will look amazing.

Personally, I am not real partial to pink, but in the example photo, Janice chose to use an antique English rose china pattern which does look very pretty. If using this type of antique china, I would look for vintage style accent pieces in the palest of pink or icy blue and white to add to the table.

I found two lovely sets of shabby chic vintage fine bone china dinnerware in pink rose patterns by Royal Albert Royal Dalton China which can easily be used to create a stunning tablescape similar to the one featured here in this photo.

In the past when I have set similar tables I would use either my set of white Lenox Opal Innocence Platinum Banded China layered with a silver charger and crystal plates, or I would layer the same way using an old world baroque style white china I have on hand. I also like to layer with my Lenox Frosty Blue China. The pale icy blue of this fine Chinaware works perfectly for white Christmas tablescapes.

This set of Royal Albert Lady Carlyle pattern bone china is a lovely romantic vintage floral print pattern and a 24k intricate gold banding. The intricate Victorian design has a lavish deep pink-hued border, decorated with flowers and foliage inspired by the rich textures and style of brocaded fabric and fresh posies from an English country garden.

The florals include roses, bluebells, and forget-me-nots. The design is from the curvaceous and extravagant rococo styles of the 18th century and the set is perfect for a shabby chic Christmas tablescape table setting. This is a service for one which includes a 5-piece place setting. Included in the place setting is a dinner plate, salad plate, bread and butter plate, teacup and saucer.

Add in silver, icy blue, pink and white Christmas ball ornaments for a bit of additional color to the lacey white tablescape. When I set a similar table I prefer to add mercury glass or antique silver ornaments and candlestick holders, which I have collected over the years, to my shabby chic tablescapes. These pieces look stunning while they reflect the light adding more sparkle in this old world vintage setting. If you don’t have an old stash like I do, mercury glass has become very popular again so you can easy buy new pieces which look antique and very shabby!

White Christmas Tablescapes

White Christmas Tablescapes

3 White Cone Christmas Tree Table Top DecorDecorating wintery white Christmas tablescapes using a white on white palette makes perfect sense for the Christmas season.

Winter white reminds me of the clean serenity of a blanket of freshly fallen snow in the woods.  It looks so beautiful and pure with a sense of peace. The key to creating an all-white table top landscape that’s not flat or sterile is to layer different shades of white, ivory, cream, icy blues and pale grays along with a mix of textures and metallic accents.

The magic comes when the shiny metallic ornaments, lots of candles, lots of glitter and sparkle plus beautiful flatware in silver, gold or copper are added to the table.

Contemporary settings can be created by mixing sleek lines in white with the hottest color of the season such as aqua, purple, neon greens or black.  It is a modern trend that is very popular this season.

It gives a clean minimalist look with a small burst of color and bits of natural elements such as bare tree branches or pears mixed it.  Often the natural elements will be spray painted in the theme color with metallic gold, silver or copper paint and added in for industrial contrast.

Using white in a shabby chic setting or an antique Victorian Christmas Tablescape is a style which has been popular for at least 10 years and is still just as hot today.  Use mercury glass, star and ball ornaments covered in glitter, homemade ornaments made of lace and sheet music and natural elements such as pine boughs and pine cones painted white and flocked with white or silver glitter.

My personal favorite is shabby chic mixed with coastal, using old worn elements of yesterday to remind me of a beach house weathered by the sea salt and the wind. I like mixing seashells with mercury glass, sea glass and shiny Christmas ornaments surrounding by lots of candles in crystal candle holders. I like setting the table using my Lenox fine china with platinum rimmed bands, silver flatware, and crystal stemware.

Adding lots of candles, silver, crystal, glitter and sequins are all elements which should be incorporated with white table top decorations for the light to reflect off.  They give the table its magical sparkle which is such a huge part of Christmas.  White flowers, white tablecloths, and white napkins should be used to give the table an elegant snowy, wintry feel that sparkles and shines with the icy crystals of the decor as they dance in candlelight.

My hope is that you find fabulous ideas and the means to re-create them from this site.  I hope you find the inspiration to assist you in creating your own magical White Christmas Tablescape.  Keep in mind there are only three really important things to remember when searching for the right Christmas Tablescape for your home.

Stay Calm, Have Fun, and Stay Frosty!

Merry Christmas Signature
