Snowflakes and Ice Tablescape

An Elegant Winter Snowflakes and Ice Tablescape

Let’s re-create this elegant, magical Snowflakes and Ice Tablescape to completely WOW our guest over the winter holidays. Lori from Dining Delight has done it again with the creation of another gorgeous winter snowflake tablescape called Snowflakes & Ice. The look is all about glimmer and sparkle using crystal, glass and silver with a hint of aqua and teal.

The first layer of this gorgeous sparkling tablescape is a mirror laid down the center of the table. The tablescape was then built in layers upon the mirror. If you don’t have a long mirror, home improvement stores sell mirror tiles. Another option is to pick up an inexpensive mirror at a discount store and remove the ugly frame.

To achieve the icy block centerpiece, you will need a total of 4 glass blocks to complete the project. Lori used two glass blocks, which she picked up from a hardware store (the kind of glass block used to build walls). She stacked these blocks, one laid down on its side and the other standing on top for height, glued a large glittered snowflake to each side, then topped the creation with acrylic ice cubes to give her centerpiece their icy appeal.

She also used glass blocks on each side of the centerpiece to hold the glass Christmas trees. If you cannot get your hands on any glass block, another idea for elevating the crystal Christmas trees is to use cut crystal or cut glass bowls inverted. They will still look exquisite, especially when reflected in the mirror on the table from the candlelight.

Below, I am featuring pieces for you to achieve the same magical snowflake and ice tablescape. I have also put together dinnerware settings similar to the ones she used in her tablescape so that you can recreate the look with ease.

Glass Block with Clear Christmas Lights

I am really liking this ice block that I found on Amazon. It comes with lights already inside the blocks, thus no drilling and installing on our part, which is a big plus in my book. It will save a lot of time from doing it yourself and the cost of shipping is minimal. Lori did not use blocks with lights, but I think the addition of the lights is much better as it adds more sparkle to the table.

I looked at a lot of different glass blocks online and they seemed very reasonable in price until I tried to order and found the shipping was twice the amount of the block!! I don’t think so!

I would check Lowe’s and Home Depot in your area and compare prices prior to ordering to see what the better deal will be in your locale. For me this one is the better deal since it comes with lights already installed. If you prefer one without lights click here Glass Block.

This is a pack of 12 large 8-inch white snowflake ornaments which will give you enough to decorate the glass blocks on the Snowflake and Ice Tablescape, plus a few more to use elsewhere in the home.

Glue one to each side of the glass block to re-create the center piece in the photo and one to the top of each glass block used under the acrylic Christmas trees.

Place these acrylic ice rocks on top of the glass block. They look just like rocks of ice giving the table more of an icy, wintery feel. Get a several bags and scatter the extra around the tablescape and the place settings for an extra bit of glimmer.

Christmas Tree Tabletop Decor

A glass Christmas tree is placed on top of each glass block which we placed on each side of the centerpiece. On a larger table, a grouping of 3 can be placed at each end of the table.

We have found a super cool variety of Christmas trees to be used on this tablescape. Some are glass, some crystal and some are acrylic. Don’t be thrown off by the acrylic because some of the acrylic made these days are made so well it is difficult to tell the difference between the acrylic pieces and the crystal pieces unless you physically touch them and they are much more affordable for the budget concious.

Clear Decorative Reindeer Tabletop Figurines

A few of these gorgeous reindeer pairs are acrylic, but you would never know by looking at them. They look like carved crystal, at a quarter of the cost. You will be pleasantly surprised when you see how well these gentle beasts reflects the lights on the table.  I am so amazed what is done with acrylic these days.

Placing an icy crystal reindeer around the table adds another layer of sparkling glimmer to our wintry forest scene. If you have a large table add one pair to each side of the glass block holding a glass Christmas tree. For a smaller table split up the pair and add a single reindeer to each side.

Keep in mind the expense of crystal is an investment in your families future. When taken care of properly they become family heirlooms passed down from generation to generation. Pack them well when putting them in storage at the end of the Christmas holiday season.

I adore cut crystal and both pairs of these crystal candlestick are exquisitly crafted pieces. Both of the Waterford and Baccarat crystal companies are producers of handcrafted, high-quality crystal. The facets cut into these candlesticks will reflect the candle and table light beautifully. I know you will love them the minute you take them out of their boxes. The photos do not do them justice!

Decorate your crystal candlesticks by gluing two 3-inch snowflakes one on each side of the candlesticks. I would adhere them with rubber cement. Rubber cement will peel right off without any harm to the crystal. The extra snowflakes can be used elsewhere on the table or to decorate anywhere in the home you want to look more festive with additional glimmer.

Hang them on the Christmas tree, in the windows, in the front hallway, on the banister tucked into the garland, on the mantle, or hang them from the chandelier over the dining room table.

I have never used candle rings before but they look like a fun way to add even more magical sparkles to our icy winter table and they can be used with so many different tablescapes for many occasions.

Should you decide to dress up your table by choosing to use candle rings, I would try to stick the snowflake embellishments to the rings instead of on the candlesticks. You will have to fiddle with it to see what works out best on the crystal candleholders you decide to use.

Lori glued her snowflakes right on the candles! If you choose to do that it would be better to use faux candles such as the LED styles instead of real burning candles.

Snowflake Candle Holders

One can never have too much candlelight when creating a magical Christmas atmosphere! Lori understood this magic when she created her tablescape. Snowflake candles abound.

For the budget conscious, if crystal candle holders are not yet in your budget, a snowflake designed metal set might be better suited and you can always glue a white sparkly snowflake embellishment right on top of the snowflake design.

Another idea, again using rubber cement, is to add glitter directly to the snowflake design. I do think embellishing with snowflakes would be safer as I don’t know how well these candle holders have been nickel plated.

Besides the two taper candlesticks in the center of the table, Lori placed candles at each end of the table and she placed a Lenox porcelain china snowflake tea light at each place setting. I love the Lenox china tea lights, but unfortunately, they are sold out and now collector’s items as they have been retired. Because of that, I had to remove them from this page. Keep your eyes open for them at garage sales and antique shops.

For those of you with smaller tables the decision will be trying. The good news is they are all very affordable for those of you on a budget.

Snowflake & Ice Dinnerware

Dining Delight is using her tried and true silver beaded rim charger that she used with the other winter snowflake tablescape I featured here.

For this Snowflake and Ice theme, she has done a very simple layer of a white placemat, the silver charger, a white dinner plate, and a glass salad plate. The setting is topped off with a teal dish for the place card holder.

The dish is filled with faux snow, a glittery snowflake ornament, and the guest name. The color of the dish really helps to pull it all together. I like the idea of using the snowflake ornament for the guest to take home.

Snowflake Winter Theme

Snowflake Winter Theme

Blue and White Christmas Tablescape

This beautiful snowflake winter theme tablescape will be easy to re-create and will look stunning this Christmas. It was created (looked all over her blog for her name to give her the credit she deserves but sadly it was not to be found) on the Dining Delight Blog .

Dining Delight used silver chargers set on white placemats on a dark blue tablecloth with a matching white table runner. The place settings are layered with a blue and white transferware pattern plates and square white bowls.  I think mixing and matching with cobalt blue glass plates or bowls would also be a stunning look.

I would use snowflake confetti on the table along with a scatter of glittering snowflakes.  Place snowflake themed hurricane candle holders,  taper candles and votive candles to add to the sparkle and glittery magic of the wintry table.  I believe there can never be too many candles as their light will reflect and add to the splendor of the room, and who does not love that magic feeling Christmas always brings?

She made her snowflake winter theme tablescape sparkle with icy garland wrapped around the hurricane candle holder, mirror tiles, acrylic risers and acrylic ice chips. Votive candles shine in their silver candle holders and the faux snow in the glass candle holders add that extra wintery detail.

Adding lots of crystal and glass is always a good idea. I would add a few crystal figurines and candlestick holders for the light to reflect off and wrap garlands of snowflakes around the larger items placed on the table.  Every item you choose to add to the table should sparkle, glitter and shine with wintry glam. Just be careful not to over do it by adding so much you end out with a cluttered table instead of a beautiful winter statement.

Below, find pieces I have selected for you to choose from to re-create this beautiful tablescape, plus I have added stunning snowflake themed pieces to give you more decorating option ideas.

I love Waterford crystal and I would use this crystal Waterford Hurricane as the focal point in the snowflake winter themed tablescape for a formal Christmas dinner. This is a fabulous cut crystal heirloom piece with a snowflake design which is an investment in your heir’s future as it is a piece which will be passed down from generation to generation.

Add a pillar candle for a stunning center piece focal point. I would add more taper candles as accent candles on each side of the center piece and fill in the gaps all the way down each side of the table with votives and tea light candles at different height levels.

I would use this blue frost snowflake pillar candle holder like bookends flanking the Waterford crystal center piece; one on each side. The candle holder is beautifully embellished with a shiny silver snowflake and it is a very affordable piece. If decorating a small table for two it could be used alone as the single focal point of the center piece.

This set of three frosty blue votive candle holders will coordinate perfectly on the table with blue frosty pillar candle holder. They are beautiful etched in a swirled floral and vine pattern on the frosted blue glass goblets.

This set is a sweet grouping with each long stem a different height. I would get two sets and place a set at each end of the table in a trio grouping. They could also be placed singly around the table. If you have an area on the table that needs more height, use small pillar candles in the goblet cup instead of votives.

In the photo, a square mirror tile is used under each of the goblet candleholder sets to reflect more of the candlelight, I found a gorgeous small jeweled picture frame that is much more elegant to substitute for the tile mirror.

Perhaps Waterford crystal is not in the budget? Try this affordable substitute instead.  This is an elegant 4 piece hurricane style, pillar candle holder set. They will make a gorgeous and very affordable center piece for your snowflake theme tablescape.

I would lay down either a silver runner, or a long rectangular mirror, centered on the table. If you don’t have a mirror, lay down 4 mirror tiles; one for each candle, horizontally in the center of the table.  For added interest , place each mirror to look like a diamond shape.  The mirrors  can be picked up at any home improvement store such as Lowe’s or Home Depot.

Once you have the mirrors placed where you want them, set all 4 of the hurricane candle holders in a single file on the mirrors and go from there with your decorating.

I love this new Lenox china pattern for our Snowflake Winter Theme Tablescape! Fashion designers Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig of Marchesa Couture designed a Marchesa Couture line for Lenox China which, as you can see, is fabulous.  The white delicate lacy design on the deep indigo blue is the perfect companion for our snowflake tablescape.

This set of china could be layered successfully with any white china if you want contrast, but the patterns on each individual piece is different (and so beautiful) the layering could be done with just this set.  If you want to follow the photo as close as possible, then use square white soup bowls as the top layer.

Add snowflakes to the table, hang them from the chandeliers, hang them from the ceiling, paste them to the windows, add them to fruit bowls and prop them on the mantle.  Use large snowflakes for placemats and small ones for cocktail coasters on the table. There are a million ideas for using snowflakes.  What are your ideas?

I like to add these silver glittery snowflakes to candle holders, strew them about the table tops; string them mixed with white and icy blue snowflakes and glass Mardi Gras beads for snowflake curtains; hang them from the ceiling with nylon thread (makes them look like they are floating in air); hang them from light fixtures above the dining room table; adhere them to windows and tie them on gifts. They add magical glam wherever they happen to land.

These snowflakes are ideal to hang from the chandeliers, or light fixture, above the dining room table. I would also use them on the acrylic blocks featured in the Dining Delight Photo above.

String them on nylon thread to turn into “snowflake curtains”. Using rubber cement as an adhesive I would also add them to the window panes in the dining room. Add snowflakes to nylon thread and attach to the ceilings to give the illusion of snowflakes falling from the sky. The ideas are endless. Just use your imagination.

Snowflake Tablescape

Easily Create a Stunning Wintry Snowflake
Tablescape Theme

Snowflakes Ornaments Hanging from Chandelier
Creating a stunning Snowflake Tablescape for Christmas with coordinating table place settings is really not a very difficult thing to do.

Once created, nothing is more exquisitely magical than a Christmas table surrounded by the warm glow of flickering candlelight and the sparkle that comes from the glitter of the decor reflecting the light.

I love to use anything snowflake related that sparkles, such as crystal and silver intermingle with glittery ornaments for an elegant eye appeal. I feel there can never be enough candles votives and tea lights with a snowflake motive to add to the glimmer of a Christmas tablescape.

I like to scatter glittery snowflakes, all around the table, hang them from the chandeliers, hang them from the ceiling, hang them in front of the windows (or stick them on the windows) and hang them in doorways on nylon thread. Add some silver beads for a snowflake curtain.

The fact is, when I am in a snowflake mood I like to scatter snowflakes everywhere!  Their glitter catches the sunlight during the day and the candles at night reflecting their magic on the walls like prisms. I like to make the room magical with icy, glittering snowflakes!

Wintry white tablescapes look so much more beautiful when accented by different size snowflakes. Click this link to see the next Snowflake Winter Theme Tablescape post with tablescape ideas using snowflakes.

Keep in mind, there are only three really important things to remember when searching for the right elegant Christmas snowflake tablescape decor ideas for the season…
