Snowflake Winter Theme

Blue and White Christmas Tablescape

This beautiful snowflake winter theme tablescape will be easy to re-create and will look stunning this Christmas. It was created (looked all over her blog for her name to give her the credit she deserves but sadly it was not to be found) on the Dining Delight Blog .

Dining Delight used silver chargers set on white placemats on a dark blue tablecloth with a matching white table runner. The place settings are layered with a blue and white transferware pattern plates and square white bowls.  I think mixing and matching with cobalt blue glass plates or bowls would also be a stunning look.

I would use snowflake confetti on the table along with a scatter of glittering snowflakes.  Place snowflake themed hurricane candle holders,  taper candles and votive candles to add to the sparkle and glittery magic of the wintry table.  I believe there can never be too many candles as their light will reflect and add to the splendor of the room, and who does not love that magic feeling Christmas always brings?

She made her snowflake winter theme tablescape sparkle with icy garland wrapped around the hurricane candle holder, mirror tiles, acrylic risers and acrylic ice chips. Votive candles shine in their silver candle holders and the faux snow in the glass candle holders add that extra wintery detail.

Adding lots of crystal and glass is always a good idea. I would add a few crystal figurines and candlestick holders for the light to reflect off and wrap garlands of snowflakes around the larger items placed on the table.  Every item you choose to add to the table should sparkle, glitter and shine with wintry glam. Just be careful not to over do it by adding so much you end out with a cluttered table instead of a beautiful winter statement.

Below, find pieces I have selected for you to choose from to re-create this beautiful tablescape, plus I have added stunning snowflake themed pieces to give you more decorating option ideas.

I love Waterford crystal and I would use this crystal Waterford Hurricane as the focal point in the snowflake winter themed tablescape for a formal Christmas dinner. This is a fabulous cut crystal heirloom piece with a snowflake design which is an investment in your heir’s future as it is a piece which will be passed down from generation to generation.

Add a pillar candle for a stunning center piece focal point. I would add more taper candles as accent candles on each side of the center piece and fill in the gaps all the way down each side of the table with votives and tea light candles at different height levels.

I would use this blue frost snowflake pillar candle holder like bookends flanking the Waterford crystal center piece; one on each side. The candle holder is beautifully embellished with a shiny silver snowflake and it is a very affordable piece. If decorating a small table for two it could be used alone as the single focal point of the center piece.

Frosted Blue Etched Glass Goblet Votive Candle Holder Set

This set of three frosty blue votive candle holders will coordinate perfectly on the table with blue frosty pillar candle holder. They are beautiful etched in a swirled floral and vine pattern on the frosted blue glass goblets.

This set is a sweet grouping with each long stem a different height. I would get two sets and place a set at each end of the table in a trio grouping. They could also be placed singly around the table. If you have an area on the table that needs more height, use small pillar candles in the goblet cup instead of votives.

In the photo, a square mirror tile is used under each of the goblet candleholder sets to reflect more of the candlelight, I found a gorgeous small jeweled picture frame that is much more elegant to substitute for the tile mirror.

Perhaps Waterford crystal is not in the budget? Try this affordable substitute instead.  This is an elegant 4 piece hurricane style, pillar candle holder set. They will make a gorgeous and very affordable center piece for your snowflake theme tablescape.

I would lay down either a silver runner, or a long rectangular mirror, centered on the table. If you don’t have a mirror, lay down 4 mirror tiles; one for each candle, horizontally in the center of the table.  For added interest , place each mirror to look like a diamond shape.  The mirrors  can be picked up at any home improvement store such as Lowe’s or Home Depot.

Once you have the mirrors placed where you want them, set all 4 of the hurricane candle holders in a single file on the mirrors and go from there with your decorating.

Lenox Empire Pearl Indigo China 5-Piece Place Setting

I love this new Lenox china pattern for our Snowflake Winter Theme Tablescape! Fashion designers Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig of Marchesa Couture designed a Marchesa Couture line for Lenox China which, as you can see, is fabulous.  The white delicate lacy design on the deep indigo blue is the perfect companion for our snowflake tablescape.

This set of china could be layered successfully with any white china if you want contrast, but the patterns on each individual piece is different (and so beautiful) the layering could be done with just this set.  If you want to follow the photo as close as possible, then use square white soup bowls as the top layer.

This hand painted snowflake wine glass is perfect for our snowflake theme, unfortunately it does not come in a set as they are hand made individually.  It is a fun festive glass that would make a fabulous gift as it comes in a gift box.  I would love to set my snowflake table with these glasses for the wine and clear crystal stemware for the water.

Snowflakes Hanging from the Chandelier Image

Add snowflakes to the table, hang them from the chandeliers, hang them from the ceiling, paste them to the windows, add them to fruit bowls and prop them on the mantle.  Use large snowflakes for placemats and small ones for cocktail coasters on the table. There are a million ideas for using snowflakes.  What are your ideas?

I like to add these silver glittery snowflakes to candle holders, strew them about the table tops; string them mixed with white and icy blue snowflakes and glass Mardi Gras beads for snowflake curtains; hang them from the ceiling with nylon thread (makes them look like they are floating in air); hang them from light fixtures above the dining room table; adhere them to windows and tie them on gifts. They add magical glam wherever they happen to land.

I would scatter several of these snowflake ornaments around the tablescape display to catch the light; adding lots of sparkle to the table. Several could also be hung from the ceiling and from the light fixtures mixed in with silver, white and blue snowflakes for a stunning effect.

These snowflakes are ideal to hang from the chandeliers, or light fixture, above the dining room table. I would also use them on the acrylic blocks featured in the Dining Delight Photo above.

String them on nylon thread to turn into “snowflake curtains”. Using rubber cement as an adhesive I would also add them to the window panes in the dining room. Add snowflakes to nylon thread and attach to the ceilings to give the illusion of snowflakes falling from the sky. The ideas are endless. Just use your imagination.

I never cease to be amazed with all of the new acrylics that are now being made. They are so affordable, yet when they are hung they reflect light into prisms just like real crystal. Of course, we would all love to have genuine crystal snowflakes to decorate our homes, but for those who can’t afford it, these acrylic snowflakes will not disappoint. They will be beautiful wherever you chose to put them.

Mix the snowflake garland with strands of icy garland and wrap them around the hurricane candle holders used as the focal point of our snowflake Christmas tablescape.  I would cut a few fresh sprigs of spruce to tuck into the garland.  If you live in a place where you can’t get any fresh spruce or pine cuttings (like Phoenix, Arizona or Las Vegas) cut fresh springs of rosemary, magnolia leaves, or any fresh greenery  which does grow locally and use them as a substitute.
